I was asked a question by a student today. What does Wi-Fi mean? I was flumoxed; I knew what is was, but what did it mean?

Wi-Fi = Wireless Fidelity

Do you remember the sound system Hi-Fi (High Fidelity)? The same pattern produced the name Wi-Fi.
